National Rescue Standards (NaRS) Pool Safety Award
The Swimming Teachers' Association (STA) is a registered charity which provide Nationally and Internationally recognised vocational awards in the leisure industry. The STA Certificate in Teaching Swimming - Beginners and STC Certificate in Teaching Swimming - Full sit on the National Framework at Level 2 with Ofqual, and both have SQA accreditation.

Holders of the STA Certificate in Teaching Swimming - (Beginners) Qualification can:
Act as an assistant teacher for all abilities
Teach larger classes under supervision
Teach advanced classes under supervision
Candidates must be 16 years of age. The courses held at the Watling Way Centre combine the Teaching Beginners Certificate with the (NaRS) Pool Safety Award. All membership fees to the STA are also included in the cost.

Teach without supervision, all levels and abilities
Candidates must be 18 years of age and hold STA Certificate in Teaching Swimming - (Beginners) or equivalent. Membership fees to the STA are not included in the cost.
